This article provides biographical information about the legacy and accomplishments of Sojourner Truth, who fought for equality and civil rights; against racism, slavery, sexism, and the death penalty. As an abolitionist and feminist, she is considered by bell hooks to be early example of intersectionality. Sojourner Truth is famous for her “Ain’t I a woman” speech (1851), given at the Convention on Women’s Rights in Ohio.
